Grenada Governor-General Visited Yiwu International Trade City

On Sept., 23rd, Cécile La Grenade, the Greneda Governor-General came to visit Yiwu, and Yiwu government officials chen Xiuxian and Xiong Taohui greeted her with the warmest welcome.

In the afternoon, the Cécile La Grenade delegation visited Yiwu International Trade City District one and five, and got chances to know the real business status around the market. The whole journey was accompanied by Yiwu vice mayor Xiong Taohui. Cécile was stunned by what she had seen. The grand trade market, the bright shopping environment and a wide variety of small commodities impressed her a lot. 

During her trip, Cécile expressed her wish to strengthen trade interconnection with Yiwu, especially on the wine, paper fan, and jam. 

Grenada is an island country consisting of Grenada itself and six smaller islands at the southern end of the Grenadines in the southeastern Caribbean Sea. Grenada is also known as the Island of Spice because of the production of nutmeg and mace crops, of which it is one of the world’s largest exporters. Its size is 344 square kilometers, with an estimated population of 110,000. Its economies is mainly generated by agriculture and tourism. For the exterior trade, it focuses on exporting mace, banana, and cocoa; and importing food, machinery, transport device and basic products. 

In 2015 Yiwu exported 1.617 million USD to Grenada, which increased by 24.97%. From Jan. -July, 2016, Yiwu has exported 0.9671 million USD with an up of 25.96%.
