Yiwu West Railway Station Approved to Extend its Port Function

 We’ve obtained the news from Yiwu Land and Port Bureau that on Aug., 16th, General Administration of Customs announced to approve Yiwu West Railway Station to extend its function as the temporary railway port. The duration has expended one year. That marked that the only temporary railway port in Zheijang province gained another year’s validation.

Dec., 22nd, 2015, Yiwu West Railway Station got approved as a temporary port. During the approval period, Yiwu speeded up the railway’s infrastructure construction. On April 29th, the first phase was finished. It covered 168 Mus and contained Inspection Square, Supervision Warehouse, Container Yard, Inspection and Quarantine Square, Parking Lot, Joint Inspection Building, etc. Critical function locations have all been completed. On July 8th, Specific Inspection Square for Imported Meat was approved officially for construction.

 

Depending on the railway port, China-Europe international cargo trains and sea-rail joint transportation business have risen quickly. From Jan.,-July, Yiwu-Ningbo Beilun Sea-Railway Joint Transportation totally handled 4,458 containers, which has seen a rapid increase rate of 21.7% on the same basis. Yiwu-Madrid cargo train departed 33 times, and totally delivered 2,692 containers of cargoes to Europe countries, with a skyrocketed rate of 502.4%. With the launching of Yiwu-Tehran, Yiwu-Russia international container trains, Yiwu has become the city owning the most international cargo trains.

 

For the next step, Yiwu will continue promoting and building railway port construction, and strive to be approved to be official port permanently. Meanwhile, Yiwu will do its best to become the designated port for handling produces and automatics importing, and even be the first-tier international inland port.
